Mark is from the Philippines and came to Denmark in 2013. His father is part Danish and part Spanish but lives with Mark’s mother in the Philippines. Mark has siblings living in the Philippinnes and Canada.
He came to Denmark for several reasons. He wanted to be able to have better job prospects as a radiologist than he could in the Philippines. He wanted to learn to speak fluent Danish. He also wanted to discover his heritage and get to know his large family network here. The tolerance to homosexuality and the opportunity to get married are other important reasons.
Since he came to Denmark he has been working as an au pair for a Danish family while completing his language course. His qualifications have been recognised in Denmark and now he has completed his Danish language course with the required grades he is able to seek work as a radiologist.
Mark was recently engaged to his Danish boyfriend and intends to remain in Denmark.
