Maciej is from Slupsk in Poland and came to Denmark in 2013. His parents and siblings moved here four years earlier when Maciej was just 14. He stayed behind to complete junior high school. He lived alone and had to grow up fast.
He had a difficult time in junior high school where he was a target of both verbal and physical abuse because of his sexuality. Despite this he did not want to leave behind his life in Poland and his boyfriend when he completed junior high school.
When he finished high school he moved to a larger city in Poland to have more freedom with his boyfriend. While there he started studied marketing and worked in a large bank.
The intolerance he experienced where he lived in Poland motivated him to move to Denmark which he knew is a more tolerant society where he no longer had to supress his sexuality. Denmark also gives him the chance to get married and start a family.
He wants to complete the Danish language course and find some part-time work. Later he would like to undertake further education and work in the renewable energy sector. He also hopes to be reunited with his boyfriend.
