Ionelia is from Romania and moved to Denmark with her partner in 2010.
The intention was to stay for a few years to earn enough money to be able to purchase a house in Romania. This was not possible while working in Romania despite having a university degree and both her and her partner having their own small businesses.
She at first found life in Denmark hard. She could not speak Danish or English and could not get work for the first six months. She then found a job delivering advertising material.
The original plan to return to Romania changed when Ionelia became pregnant with her daughter. This is despite having bought an apartment in Romania. She now intends to remain in Denmark so her daughter and newborn baby boy can have a better life. Her children’s welfare and happiness is particularly important for her because she herself had a difficult childhood.
Now that she has completed language school she would like to find work where she can use her Danish.
